Argentina Lure Fishing Association

Dear Bob, hope you are fine. As I told you some time ago, we are working to create the Argentina's Lure Fishing Association, never done in our country before (FYI, the only international recognized national fishing organizacion is the Fly Fishing Association created 34 years ago). The aim is to promote lure fishing in Argentina, to teach fishermen and guides about Spinning, Baitcasting and Trolling best techiques and different lures use, Catch & Release, environment protection, and of course, to keep sporting species safe from predation and commercial abuse, such as the (Golden) Dorado, the Dogfish (in spanish, "Tararira") and many others less known, which currently are in danger and nobody is doing anything about it. Up today we have created what we called "The Lure Day" which is held each 2nd and 4th saturday every month in a Buenos Aires public lake (in Palermo neighborhood, near the National Airport) in order to promote this project, meet people and some activities as casting or to study some lures action. These meetings are being quite succesful, and we also went thru several communication channels such as many local Fishing Forums, Sports Magazines and Radios, Facebook, etc., to continue promoting this while we are working also in some legal issues and building our own web page. The purpose of this message is to let you know that something big is about to reach the light in Argentina. So far we're a small group of people (small, yet many serious and experienced fishermen and media people working as insiders) and think with the continue support of many people which want to be involved and willing to make a difference, soon we'll be in a strong position to reach our goals. Early Season Peacock Bass Report

The peacock bass waters have been dropping rapidly. Reports have already started to come with as operators are taking advantage of the low water and opening their operations very early. The yacht Tayacu had great action in late August. The Tayacu's draft is only 34 inches which allows it to reach fishing spots at very low water levels where other boats cannot navigate. The Tayacu has 6 rooms fully air conditoned, private bathrooms, and showers.

PUMICE CREEK LODGE, ALASKA PENINSULA

My group had the fishing trip of a "lifetime" at Gary LaRose's Pumice Creek Lodge. Pumice Creek is located on the Alaska Peninsula about an hour flight from the town of King Salmon. My group fished during the dates of August 29th to September 5th 2009.

Gary offers daily fly outs to either the Cinder River for World Class silver salmon fishing or to Lava Creek for a day of char fishing. Both destinations are about 15 to 20 minutes from the lodge.

I have fished on the Alaska Peninsula the past 20 years. This was one of the best fishing trips I have had for both big silvers and big char. I personally caught approximately 240 silvers during the 4 days I fished for them and approximately 110 char during the 2 days fishing for them.

The weather was typical Alaska Peninsula weather with rain, but the winds were calm during the week. We did have a nice sunny day on our last day of fishing.

Meals are fantastic and plentiful with steaks, moose, pork, chicken, etc.. on the menu. Accomadations for sleeping are in a bunk house equipped with hot shower.

Gary LaRose has been in the fishing/hunting business in Alaska for years. Gary is a top notch pilot and does all he can to provide you with a great Alaska experience.
