Steelhead action in Algoma, Wisconsin
Had the opportunity to fish in Algoma, Wisconsin on August 11th for salmon and steelhead. 2 friends and I fished with Trio Fishing charters, www.triofishingcharters.com. The weather was ideal for a great day of trolling for salmon and steelhead. The steelhead bite was on as we landed 7 total in a few hours and missed a few more. We also landed a few king salmon and 1 small lake trout. Algoma is located on the NorthEast side of Wisconsin in Kewaunee County. Lake Michigan borders Algoma and has made this town famous for monster salmon catches. The waters get very deep here as we were fishing in over 350ft trolling flies and spoons. If you have ever hooked into a steelhead, you know the fantastic fighting ability they possess. Often once hooked, the steelies come shooting out of the water trying to toss your hook.
