Potential World Record Golden Dorado

According to friends at Untamed Angling, a potential world record golden dorado was caught Saturday.  The monster weighed in at a whopping 56lbs.  The current IGFA world record is 55lbs 11oz caught on the Uruguay River in La Zona by Andre L. S. de Botton on Jan 16, 2004.  If all the paperwork and guidelines setforth by IGFA are complete,  the recent caught would top Botton's record.  La Zona is home to the monster dorado- the largest which swim on earth!  Untamed Angling has experienced guides to put you on records as I am 100% sure larger dorado than 56lbs swim in these waters.

Klures for monster golden dorado

Kermett Adams of www.klures.com has become very popular in the peacock bass world!  His choppers are by far the best on the market.  However, many do not realize that Kermett also has a line of lures made especially for the monster golden dorado of La Zona.  With low water conditions try his Kermett Popper, the Jawbreaker, and even the Daly diver.  Plus the above mentioned peacock bass choppers will catch big golden dorado when ripped around the various submerged rocks.  Kermett makes these lures out of very strong wood and paints each individually.  Spilt rings and hooks are the finest to battle these monsters.
Check out Kermett's site at www.klures.com or write Kermett at kkadams@aol.com for more information

Great Ice Fishing Action

Was very fortunate the past few weekends to be able to ice fish along with some great fishing friends.  I have not gone ice fishing for a few years even though I spent numerous hours on the ice while attending graduate school in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  2 weeks ago we fished the ponds out of Peoria, IL which are owned and managed by Nate Herman.   These ponds have the biggest bluegills around.  Action was good the entire weekend along with bonus largemouth bass, crappie, walleye, and catfish.  1 week ago was able to fish for monster catfish on Lake Mendota out of Madison, WI.  This is world class fishing with our largest cat running around 22lbs which happened to be the first cat of the day.  The size of these catfish is exceptional.  10 inch holes were drilled which barely allowed enough room to land these brutes.  Ice fishing is a great option for all having the urge to get out fishing.  Extremely caution needs to be in place in case of bad ice.  Aways fish  with friends and make sure to have floatation and ice picks along just in case the ice gives way.

PAPUAN BLACK BASS

Recently, the Papuan Black Bass has received the attention it rightfully deserves.  There is an excellent article in March/ April 2013 edition of the "In-Fisherman" magazine.  The article, "Adventure Not Wanting" is written by friend Steve Ryan who was with on our trip to PNG.  (I am the 200lb angler mentioned in the article and yes indeed, I did get knocked to my face).  Also, in the January/ February/ March 2013 edition of the "International Angler" published by the IGFA there is an excellent article written by Julien Lajournade titled "Snapper of the Lost World".  This well written article puts into account the adventure of  fishing into a remote destination such as the jungles of PNG.  With these articles, I am sure that the flood of anglers seeking monster PNG bass will increase drastically.  To get in while the fishery is still untapped contact friends Jason Yip at www.sportfishingpng.net and Steve Yatomi at www.adventuretravelalliance.com.
