According to Outdoor Life Magazine, On Nov 6 off of Mozambique, a giant Black Marlin was hooked which the fishermen estimated it being well over 1000 lbs when they saw it near the boat. After hours of fighting the marlin, a large tug was felt on the line. It was later noticed that the Marlin was attacked by a shark and partially eaten. The Marlin was later weighed at 1107lbs. It was estimated it weighed between 1350 to 1420 before the shark attack. The current African record stands at 1298lbs.

S. Florida peacocks
Report out of South Florida is the extremely cold weather has killed all of the peacocks out in the Everglades. Local guide Alan Zaremba has found that the peacocks stop eating when the water temps are in the low 60s and die when it drops below 60deg.
Fortunately, the warm underground Biscayne Aquifer should keep the peacocks alive in the Miami area canals.

RAPALA SUPER SHAD RAP VERSUS CABELAS RAD SHADS
Lures such as the Rapala Super Shad Raps and the Giant Cabelas Rad Shads have probably accounted for landing more giant La Zona dorado than any other lures.
The Giant Cabelas Rad Shad is made of hard plastic whereas the Rapala Super Shad Rap is made of hard wood. The Cabelas model is slightly heavier, longer, and dives slightly deeper.
Make sure you stock up on both of these outstanding lures on your next trip for monster golden dorado.
