Steelhead action in Algoma, Wisconsin
Had the opportunity to fish in Algoma, Wisconsin on August 11th for salmon and steelhead. 2 friends and I fished with Trio Fishing charters, www.triofishingcharters.com. The weather was ideal for a great day of trolling for salmon and steelhead. The steelhead bite was on as we landed 7 total in a few hours and missed a few more. We also landed a few king salmon and 1 small lake trout. Algoma is located on the NorthEast side of Wisconsin in Kewaunee County. Lake Michigan borders Algoma and has made this town famous for monster salmon catches. The waters get very deep here as we were fishing in over 350ft trolling flies and spoons. If you have ever hooked into a steelhead, you know the fantastic fighting ability they possess. Often once hooked, the steelies come shooting out of the water trying to toss your hook. To get into some of this great action, contact Trio Fishing Charters at triofishingcharter@gmail.com

REDHOT GOLDEN DORADO ACTION
Normally the winter months of June to August are questionable for golden dorado as they prefer warm waters. However, this year is the exception as reports coming out of La Zona Lodge state the action is redhot with numerous monster golden dorado being landed. During these months the lodge offers an exceptional discount on the price of 4 days of fishing inside the "zone" near the Salto Grande Dam on the border of Argentina/Uruguay. Here the largest dorado in the world swim.
La Zona Lodge has a wonderful staff of knowledgable guides who can put you on these monsters year around. Get into this redhot fishing ASAP!

POTENTIAL WORLD RECORD MUSKIE
According to "Field and Stream" magazine, during this past May while fishing for walleyes, John Grover hooked into something very large. After an extensive battle with his reel giving out, Grover landed a muskie of a lifetime. After measuring the beast and taking a few photos, Grover released the muskie without weighing it. The monster measured 64 inches and had a girth of at least 30 inches. Using known formulas, the fish weighed approximately 72 pounds which would top the current IGFA record of 67.5 pounds caught in 1949 out of Wisconsin. However, since the fish was not weighed, it cannot qualify for the World record. So, on your next fishing trip, make sure to bring along a scale because you never know what record fish might come on your line!
